About the institute

On the basis of unique long-term stationary field fertilizer experiments, the cycle and balance of nutrients in agriculture are being studied; soil properties and mechanisms of reproduction of their fertility; physiological bases of mineral nutrition of plants; agroecological functions in the soil-fertilizer-plant system. The Research Institute of Agrochemistry has developed rational fertilizer systems for crop rotations of various specializations and individual crops, technologies for regulating soil fertility, models of sustainable agroecosystems, information systems for the integrated use of chemicals and risk assessment of stress situations in agroecosystems, new multifunctional fertilizers, methods for analyzing agrochemical objects and means of their metrological support, methodological and methodological bases for agrochemical and agroecological monitoring. The Institute's employees determined the country's need for mineral fertilizers under various scenarios of the development of the agro-industrial complex: inertial, basic, and optimistic.

The Institute is the coordinator of long-term field experiments with Geographic Network fertilizers, the scientific and methodological center for the Agrochemical Service of the Russian Federation. Federal State Budgetary Scientific Institution ‘D.N. Pryanishnikov All-Russian Research Institute of Agricultural Chemistry’ is the main Institute in the system of state registration of pesticides and agrochemicals in terms of determining the biological effectiveness of agrochemicals, plant growth regulators, desiccants, defoliants and pesticides, as well as regulations for their use.

The Institute creates and implements systems of metrological quality assurance of analytical work in agricultural laboratories, develops multicomponent standard samples of soils, crop products and fertilizers of different grades, certified for agrochemical and toxicological indicators. Their use makes it possible to obtain reliable results of analyses in testing laboratories in monitoring soil fertility in different soil-climatic zones, technogenically disturbed soils, which is necessary to meet the requirements of the Technical Regulations of the Customs Union.

The Institute has a great authority in the field of agrochemistry and agro-soil science and has highly qualified scientific personnel. The Institute employs 152 people. Among the employees of the D. N. Pryanishnikov Research Institute of Agrochemistry, there are 3 academicians of the Russian Academy of Sciences, 22 doctors and 29 candidates of Science.
